Multi Spindle Moulder is a very efficient & time saving machine for any factory which needs to process timber in large quantity. This article explains the working of the machine in detail.
But in any case the extra last bottom spindle is needed to remove the oil marks on the bottom side of the workpiece.
The feed rollers can be fitted with spring or pneumatic cylinders. Both type of cylinders are good yet they have their own advantages & disadvantages. Hence these should be selected as per requirement.
The rollers should be properly engineered to give maximum thrust & minimum wear.
The feed speed can be fixed, two speed or variable. This is selected as per the complexity of work piece & flexibility needed in processing the finished product.
The drive to the feed rollers should be direct drive in order to guarantee quality & uniform finishing
The vertical spindles need a good setting mechanism. If not properly set , it takes a lot of time in setting the machine when the tool diameter and profile is changed.
For this reason rapid adjustment of work table in front of vertical spindles is called for. This enables optimum contact between workpiece & work table.
In front of the vertical spindles, no more inserts are needed to be screwed down. In this case the tool diameter is set on the digital display & immediately , the cutting tool , the working height , the working width , the driver rollers and pressure are adjusted simultaneously. The pressure shoes placed at infeed & outfeed of left vertical spindle guarantee top quality finishing even for heavy duty working.
This spindle is very important while selecting a right Multispindle moulder. This spindle can be either used for planing the surface or even for moulding. In case of moulding , there should be a facility of pressure shoes at inward & outward in order to get smooth finish. This facility is very important to get good quality moulding.
A good machine should give 40 mm profiling on the top horizontal / vertical spindles.
The machine can be fitted with 5th universal spindle in order to achieve larger flexibility . This spindle can be used in 360 position for final moulding.
We should opt for moulding facility on the universal spindle to get optimum use.
The machine can have electronic programs , additional feed unit after the top horizontal spindle , and hard crome work table for processing of hard processing of hard wood ( with more friction) , extra long in feed table, higher power motor for the spindles.
